BENTHAM BOAT CLUB
Welcome to the Bentham Boat
Club – the rowing club rowing for
alumni and friends of University College London. This is both an active
rowing club – and a social club for ex-UCL oars who like to see the ‘Purple
and Blues’ doing well at Henley.
If you want to row – then
let us have your contact details and stand-by for the call up. Bentham crews
compete each year in the Head of the River events, and have also made
appearances at Henley.
If you want to coach
- then let us know the standard of crew you could best help. Bentham
members regularly provide the backbone of coaching support that builds
successful student crews.
Alternatively, if you
simply want to catch up with old friends still wearing the ‘Purple and Blue’
Blazer – then just e-mail your contact details, and invitations will arrive!
Every year the Bentham boat club holds a drinks party at Henley, and Bentham
members are always invited to the student club’s Christmas and annual dinners,
held in the distinguished and traditional setting of the college’s old
refectory.
Finally,
if you were not lucky enough to study at UCL, there may still be a place for you
in the Bentham Boat Club. As University College London was originally founded as
the ‘University of London’ our constitution allows us to offer membership to
alumni of all UL colleges. And we may also accept applications from alumni of
other elite ‘research-led’ UK universities, as well as their equivalent
worldwide (such as the US Ivy League).
